HOW YOU CAN HELP

Help us change the course of this disease.

Currently, most of the money for lung cancer research comes from the government. LCFA believes the only way we can dramatically change the course of lung cancer is to do it ourselves. It is time for everyone who has been affected by this disease to join together and raise money to fund lung cancer research.

We need your help!

Hold a fundraising event in your neighborhood, your community, your city or your state. Whether it's a walk or bake sale or golf tournament or whatever creative fundraiser you come up with, we will share your successes on this web site for others to see. Most importantly, you can know that money you raise will go toward funding lung cancer research.

Here are some ideas:

FRIENDRAISER: Host a LCFA "FriendRaiser" gathering at your home! This is different from a fundraiser in that you do not ask for a donation to attend. Invite your friends and have them invite THEIR friends to come learn about the #1 cancer killer -- Lung Cancer -- and to discover how they can help find a cure.

FriendRaisers start with good food and friendly conversation, followed by a short, informative, and often very moving, information session. At the end of the gathering, we encourage you to give folks a flyer (that we will supply) that allows attendees an opportunity to say how they might want to help. We've found some of our most enthusiastic and important volunteers and supporters this way. These great folks have helped with everything from marketing to writing holiday letters and from web design to finding others willing to host a similar event. We have also received unexpected donations at LCFA FriendRaisers, from smaller tokens of help to many thousands of dollars.

POLISHING OFF LUNG CANCER: Set up a polish change booth and raise money for LCFA! We call this Polishing Off Lung Cancer. Similar to a Lemonade Stand, only instead of giving out lemonade, we paint people's nails with OPI's BREATHELIFE. A beautiful silvery blue nail lacquer created exclusively by OPI for LCFA in order to raise awareness about lung cancer.

Polishing Off Lung Cancer booths can be anywhere, although they are best when there is lots of foot traffic such as sporting events, open markets, etc. We'll provide the nail polish, special Polishing Off Lung Cancer signs and LCFA brochures.

Big Sunday, the largest regional community service event in America, hosted Polish Off Lung Cancer nail polish booths throughout Southern California to benefit and raise awareness for LCFA. Visit the LCFA Facebook page to see the photos.

SALON DAYS: BreatheLIFE CAMPAIGN: Ask a salon in your area to hold SALON DAYS to bring awareness to lung cancer.

• Salons can hold lung cancer Salon Days and display the OPI Lung Cancer display stand with the BREATHELIFE nail lacquer.
• Ask salons to donate a percentage of the sale to LCFA from customers who use the BREATHELIFE color with their manicure.
• Salons can ask customers if they would like to donate $1.00 to lung cancer research with each purchase of a bottle of BREATHELIFE.
• Salons can offer manicures and/ or pedicures for lung cancer patients at 50% off when using the BREATHELIFE nail lacquer, asking for a donation to be made to LCFA.
