6th Annual Kingfisher Memorial Tournament
Hoffman Memorial Complex in York, PA, will be the site of the 6th Annual Kingfisher Open Volleyball Tournament on Saturday, July 25, 2015.
The Kingfisher tournament was organized to honor a fellow volleyball player, father, friend and husband, Clark E. Fisher.
Originally from New Columbia, Pennsylvania, Clark attended Pennsylvania State University and graduated with a degree in Engineering. After graduating from PSU, he moved to York, started his family and started playing volleyball.
Clark was diagnosed with Lung Cancer in 2009. While cutting wood on his property in York his hip broke putting him in the emergency room. While getting x-rays and scans to determine the problem the doctors found that a cancerous tumor had attached to his hip. Clark had immediate surgery and started his cancer treatment.
In November of 2009 he lost his battle with cancer. Clark never smoked a cigarette and lived a healthy life. Lung Cancer is not a smokers disease, and is the leading cause of cancer deaths in adults.
Clark loved his family, friends and volleyball, so we’ve decided to bring together all the people and things that were important to Clark.
The KingFisher volleyball tournament donates the proceeds to the following charities/scholarships, Lung Cancer Foundation and the Clark E. Fisher Memorial Scholarship, the scholarship is at Penn State (York Campus) and is awarded to a minimum of two students studying engineering with a financial need.
