Polish Off Lung Cancer – Florida

November 19, 2013

Dedicated to Michael Tepsic and his fight with Small-Cell Lung Cancer

During National Lung Cancer Awareness month, Lung Cancer Foundation of America is proud to welcome this very active Mother/Daughters team to the LCFA family:

On Saturday, November 9th, Michael’s three daughters, Ali 14, Brittany 16 and Cassie 21 hosted an unbelievably successful Polish Off Lung Cancer Fundraiser at the Delray Beach Green Market. This was their first fundraiser in support of Lung Cancer.

The girls followed their amazing first event up with another Polish Off Lung Cancer Fundaiser on Sunday, November 17th at the Royal Palm Beach Green Market from 9am -1pm. The plan is to make these annual events dedicated to their father and the search for a cure.

Please support these loving and dedicated LCFA volunteers. Make a donation to their fundraiser at: https://lcfamerica.myetap.org/fundraiser/FloridaPolishOff/

4th Annual Kingfisher Open Memorial Volleyball Tournament

August 30, 2013

The 4 Lady winners – 2012 Kingfisher Tournament

In 2010, friends of Clark Fisher started the Clark E. Fisher Memorial and the 1st Annual Kingfisher Open Memorial Volleyball Tournament. Since then they’ve raised over $31,000 to help local cancer patients and support lung cancer research.

Clark  Fisher,  an  athlete  and  a  non-smoker,  was  diagnosed  with   lung  cancer  in  early  2009.    On  November  12,  2009,  he  lost  his   battle  with  this  disease.

Continuing in their altruistic tradition, the Friends of Clark E. Fisher hosted their 4th Annual Kingfisher Open Memorial Volleyball Tournament, sponsored by Apple Automotive, on July 27, 2013 at Hoffman Memorial Complex, Vander Ave., York,PA 17403.  Proceeds of the tournament were donated to Lung Cancer Foundation of America and to an Engineering Student Award at Penn State York.

Michael Pascucci’s Bike to the Bronx Fundraiser

July 25, 2013

On Saturday, July 20, 2013, Michael Pascucci completed a 74 mile bike ride from Poughkeepsie, NY to The Bronx in honor of his mother Geraldine – affectionately known as Jay to those closest to her. Jay fought her battle with lung cancer as long as her will would allow, but after 2 years, she lost her fight.

Michael chose to undertake this mega-ride to honor his mother and to aid LCFA in funding the transformative science that leads to a cure in the hopes that other families can avoid the devastating heartache that this disease can bring.  Poignantly, his ride ended at the apartment building where his Mom grew up on Crotona Ave. in the Bronx.

Michael is planning to repeat his ride next May.  You can support Michael’s efforts at any time by donating to his fundraiser at: https://lcfamerica.myetap.org/fundraiser/michael_pascucci/

December 15, 2012

One enterprising young philanthropist found a very unique way to celebrate her birthday. Inspired by her Grandfather’s battle with lung cancer, this Lady Bountiful invited her group of friends to celebrate with her at a “Polish Off Lung Cancer” event at a local shopping mall. The girls were asked to donate to LCFA and have their nails polished and then to participate in the fundraiser by painting the nails of shoppers at the mall. These enterprising young ladies raised over $600.00 for lung cancer research! What an inspiration!

9/11 First Responders Fundraiser, Nationwide

April 1, 2012

Among the 12,000 police officers and others who responded to the September 11th attacks, many have been diagnosed with cancer-related disabilities, more than triple the rate before the attack.

LUNG CANCER ranks as the most commonly diagnosed form of cancer among this population of First Responders.

Lung Cancer Foundation of America is asking for your help in funding research grants that will be awarded to lung cancer investigators who are committing their RESEARCH efforts to improving the survival rate of lung cancer and to bringing HOPE and LIFE to all victims of lung cancer – wherever they are and however they contracted the disease.

Lung Cancer is an unacceptable consequence of the selfless efforts of the 9/11 First Responders who now find themselves faced with a lung cancer diagnosis as a result of their exposure to toxins at ground zero. Let’s help these national heroes, and the heroes in your life who are affected by lung cancer. Please make a difference - click here to donate today!

Breath of Relief, A Benefit for Lung Cancer Awareness, Herndon, VA

February 18, 2012

On February 18 2012, Virginia high school student, Nathan Wong, organized a benefit concert with proceeds going to Lung Cancer Foundation of America. Nathan and his team feel strongly about raising funds for lung cancer research since, in his own words, “my group members and I have been personally affected by this cancer that has taken the lives of those dearest to us. Our grandpas, grandmas, and uncles have all been diagnosed with this disease, and all have not lived to tell their story of survival and perseverance.” LCFA is grateful to Nathan and his team for this very successful event! What an inspiration these philanthropic high schoolers are for all of us!

Namaste for Lung Cancer, Roseville, CA

November 19, 2011

Namaste for Lung Cancer a unique event to help the friends and families of lung cancer victims while raising funds for lung cancer research, was held on November 19, 2011 in Roseville, CA. Birthday Celebration/LCFA Fundraiser Held at the University of Louisville vs. West Virginia University Football Game, Louisville, Tennessee

November 22, 2008

In honor of her 52nd birthday, Nancy Huhn’s children hosted a Lung Cancer Awareness fundraiser at the University of Louisville vs West Virginia University footballgame. This is a big rivalry in the Big East Conference. Many things were donated from a variety of businesses and friends. They offered hot dogs, hot chocolate, cookies, donuts, coffee, etc to any interested passers-by. All proceeds went to LCFA. Visit LCFA’s Facebook page for more pictures of this great tailgate fundraiser!
