On Sunday, November 30, 2014, the National Honor Society of Jefferson-Morgan High School in Jefferson, PA hosted a dance and Chinese Auction in memory of DJ Bedilion. “Dancing for DJ” was the brain child of NHS President, Gavin Koratich. DJ was Gavin’s Grandmother and she passed away from lung cancer when Gavin was just 11 years old.
One of DJ’s final wishes was to make a difference in the treatment and survival rate of lung cancer. Gavin and his fellow NHS members have helped to make that wish come true.
“Dancing for DJ” was an enormous success with all proceeds going towards lung cancer research and Lung Cancer Foundation of America.
LCFA is so grateful to these young people for all of their philanthropic efforts on behalf of lung cancer research!
Sunday, July 27th – even though it RAINED in Del Mar that morning – the LCFA “Day at the Races” event was our largest and most successful yet!
Our large, fun-loving and race WINNING crowd (thanks in large part to “Kitty’s Picks”) enjoyed the delicious buffet, open bar and great silent auction as well as betting on the horses. LCFA is grateful to all of our participants and our sponsors for your generous and enthusiastic support.
Save the last Sunday in July 2015 for next year’s event!
Saturday, July 26, 2014 was a day to have fun, raise money for LCFA and to remember and honor our dear friend Clark Fisher at the 5th annual event. So far we have raised over $15,000 for the LCFA.
Clark Fisher, an athlete and a non-smoker, was diagnosed with lung cancer in early 2009. On November 12, 2009, he lost his battle with this disease. To honor his memory, friends of Clark Fisher started the Clark E. Fisher Memorial and the Kingfisher Memorial Volleyball Tournament became an annual event.
Volleyball created a special bond between my dad, brother and me early in life. The love that we had for the game brought the three of us together like best friends. We spent countless hours peppering in our backyard, traveling to tournaments around the country and setting the net up on weekends to play doubles. The memories I have with my Dad and the times we spent on the court I’ll cherish forever. The Kingfisher Open will continue his legacy and his love for the game. My brother and I are sincerely thankful to everyone participating in the event and making it possible. Let’s not forget the bonds volleyball has brought to us all. ~Ryan and Michael Fisher
