November 12, 2009

About 60 people joined LCFA at a Manhattan Friendraiser hosted by Russell Putterman and Beth Mauro, Marilyn Harrison and Susan Brooks. Pfizer pharmaceuticals graciously underwrote the event. Great food and drinks were served. LCFA Board member, Susie Mandel kicked off the event and introduced lung cancer survivor Donna Lista who told her story of surviving lung cancer while educating everyone on the challenges facing lung cancer research. LCFA President, Kim Norris then talked about what LCFA is doing to make a difference. A lively discussion followed with great questions and exciting ideas. Shine a Light on Lung Cancer, Washington, UT

November 5, 2009

On Oct. 27, Jenie wrote to LCFA telling us her father had lung cancer and she wanted to include a Polish Off Lung Cancer table at a Nov. 5th, Shine a Light on lung cancer event she was planning in her home town of Washington, UT. Her computer was stolen so she lost her photos of the event, but she wrote a beautiful description of what was a wonderfully touching, successful and community building, lung cancer awareness event. Click here to read her wonderful story.

Big Sunday ’09 Los Angeles, California, the Largest Regional Community Service Event in America: “Polishing Off Lung Cancer” Nail Polish Booths

May 2, 2009

Big Sunday hosted our first ever Polishing Off Lung Cancer booths to benefit and raise awareness for the Lung Cancer Foundation of America. LCFA is a wonderful new nonprofit created to help fund research to provide early detection, treatment and, eventually, to find a cure for lung cancer, the No. 1 cancer killer. Recently, OPI (the nail polish company), generously introduced BREATHELIFE, a new blue nail polish specially designed to call attention to LCFA’s important work. On Big Sunday weekend, volunteers hosted nail polish booths all over Southern California, where, for a small donation, people got their nails polished a cool BREATHELIFE blue. All profits went to LCFA. Contact LCFA to find out how you can host a nail polish booth and visit LCFA’s Facebook page for more pictures of the POLC booths.
